Bond
2016 Technology and Aging Facility Projects
Technology
is an essential instructional tool that enriches the educational experience in
the classroom. Technology enhances the outstanding programs in the Olathe
Public Schools by improving learning opportunities and providing students with
the skills they need for the future. Currently, the district uses a variety of
forms of media in classrooms including desktops, laptops, tablets and digital
classroom tools. The district’s goal is to provide great student access to
technology to better prepare students for the global world.
This bond
would provide the district with the ability to replace and upgrade student
devices, upgrade audio/visual equipment in classrooms districtwide, upgrade
telecommunications, maintain support applications, provide technology to
support new construction projects, continue the district’s device foundation,
and upgrade infrastructure and network hardware.
The bond
election would help the district make vital improvements to facilities in order
to take care of that which it has been entrusted. Some of these important
improvements include upgrading and replacing aged HVAC systems, taking care of
exterior needs including masonry and replacement of aged windows and doors,
replacing aged lighting fixtures, ceilings, and improving specialized
instructional space.
